Committees:

Columbus H.O.P.E.:

The Columbus H.O.P.E. “Helping Other People Everyday” Foundation Inc. is dedicated to bettering the environment for, and increasing the self-reliance and dignity of people with Intellectual Disabilities and special needs.   For many years, Council # 12263 has participated in the Knights of Columbus Columbus H.O.P.E. campaign. We organize a large committee of Brothers, their wives, families and friends and canvas local stores, as well as our own St. Gregory The Great Church for the money that goes to our own area institutions that provide needed assistance to the intellectually challenged. Over the years The Special Olympics, Hero’s on Horseback and Programs for Exceptional People (PEP) have received thousands of dollars as the result of the Knights of Columbus efforts and the generous members of our community.

The Knights of Columbus Council 12263 supports the Saint Gregory the Great – Saint Gianna Respect Life Ministry. The Saint Gianna Respect Life Ministry is an organization committed to prayer, education, and action in defense of life. It is our mission to foster within our Saint Gregory The Great parish community an awareness of the dignity and sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death. We are dedicated to promoting the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church on all life issues, including abortion, euthanasia, infanticide, assisted suicide, and embryonic stem cell research, with a special concern for the protection of the children in the womb.

Special Olympics:

The Special Olympics was founded in 1968 in Chicago Illinois by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a member of the Kennedy family. Our Special Olympics Committee provides volunteers to assist the local chapter in reaching their goals. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to experience and witness the spirit and determination of those that are challenged. Money is also donated to support their efforts and is provided through our participation in the Knights of Columbus Columbus H.O.P.E.
