2023 Council Mass of Remembrance

 

 

On October 11, Council Chaplain SK Msgr. Ronald Cellini celebrated the 2024 Mass of Remembrance.
Assembly 3198 Honor Guard led the procession.

Counsel Presents Two US Flags
To St. Gregory the Great School

On August 23, KofC Council 12263 presented a new 8′ x 12′ US Flag to St. Gregory the Great School and also
a flag that flew over the US Capitol, obtained by US Senator Tim Scott’s office. The presentation was made by
SK Sam Corona to SGG School Principal Mrs. Elizabeth Kelley

 

Knight of The Month
April 2023

GK Michael Casalvieri presents Matt Reilly with his April Knight of the Month award certificate.
Matt is the Council Family Director and coordinated the Christmas Poster Contest at SGG School,
Youth Basketball Free Throw Contest, the Vacation Bible School Family cookout and is the activities liaison between JPII High School and the Council.

 

Knight of the Year Award

Grand Knight Michael Casalvieri presents the Council 12263 Knight of the Year Award for 2022-2023 to SK Vince Taylor. Vince was the council’s Life Director, a CHIRP alumni and volunteers at retreats and the St. Vincent DePaul Society, doing intake and home visits. He is a sacristan at three daily weekday Masses and the 7 am Sunday Mass, a lector at a Friday Mass, an Honors Flight Program volunteer and was the Silver Rose Prayer Service Chairman for 2023.  At Vince’s side is his always-supportive wife Karen.

 

2023 Family of the Year Award

Grand Knight Michael Casalvieri presents the Council 12263 Family of the Year Award for 2023 to the Cawley Family (SK Jim, SK Zachary and Mindy).  Jim is an Officer in the Assembly, and active volunteer in the Council monthly Food Drive which raised over $21,000 in donations and over 420 totes of food for the Mercy Mission and St Francis Center.  Mindy is an active member of SGG Catholic Women’s Society and their son Zach became a Sir Knight at the age of 23, is an Officer in the Assembly, is an accomplished tennis player and a very valued employee at the local Olive Garden restaurant.

 

Silver Rose – June 19, 2023

The Silver Rose made a stop with Council 12263
for a Prayer Service at St. Gregory the Great Parish on June 19th.

Grand Knight Michael Casalvieri holds the beautiful Silver Rose.

Many Brother Knights, both English- and Spanish-speaking,
and Deacon Mike Smigelski participated in the Prayer Service.

 

Vacation Bible School

for the Pregnancy Center of the Low Country.

SK Dan Pennings presents checks to three local organizations at the May Pot Luck Dinner.

Bob Lee from Heroes on Horseback and Kathy Cramer from Special Olympics.

Seventy-four players enjoyed a fun day of golf and food at the Pinecrest Golf Club.

Retired NFL Coach Bob Valesente Addresses
April 2023 Pot Luck Dinner

Bob Valesente, a local resident and SGG Parish member was the guest speaker at our recent Pot Luck dinner.
Bob was a former NFL coach for 12 years and he gave an inspiring talk about
how his priorities of Faith, Family and Football were a major factor in helping him have a successful coaching career.
He also shared some funny stories about his interactions with NFL Head Coaches and the midnight move out of Baltimore when he was with the Colts.

Fish Fry 2023


Many Brother Knights helped with this year’s Fish Frys.  We had two Fridays where the number of dinners
served was over 400 which was a new record.  SGG parishioners and local residents really loved to come and
eat a delicious Fish Fry dinner on Friday nights during Lent.

Knight of the Month
January 2023

SK Walt Bryson receives the award from GK Michael Casalvieri.
SK Walt was the Columbus Hope Chairman which raised over $7,660 of donations from
SGG and St Anthony Mission church parishioners.
This set a new 
Columbus Hope fundraising record, beating last year’s results by $2,000.

Potluck Dinner January 2023

Karen Beasley, Executive Director of The Living Vine in Savannah was the guest speaker tonight.  We had 55 attendees who got to hear Karen give a very informative talk about how The Living Vine operates as a maternity home to 6 mothers and their new infants.  The residents are placed in a structured environment where they are taught skills in parenting, budgeting, education, employment and life after they graduate.  Residents stay for an average of 12-14 months and are provided a loving and caring life in a Christian faith based environment.
